SKYFALL MARKETING STRATEGIES.

Skyfall prided itself on having one of the biggest and most successful viral marketing campaigns of all time. From leaking the massively popular Adele single 'Skyfall' to viral advertising including members of the general public, the marketing leaders of the film got the word out in a big way.

VIRAL ADVERT

The Viral Advertising campaign encouraged members of the public to 'Unlock the 007' in them by completing a task. The advert is a prime example of synergy between two of the biggest franchises of all time, James Bond and Coca Cola. The video itself is uploaded on the Coca Cola youtube channel.

They even included a 'behind the scenes' look into the creation of the advert.

SKYFALL- THE SINGLE

Adele first mentioned recording a "special project" in September 2011 in an interview on  The Jonathan Ross Show, leading to speculation in the media that she was recording a Bond theme. September 2011 was over a year before the song was released. This got people excited for her involvement in the project and heightened anticipation for the project overall.
The single 'Skyfall' by Adele was premiered October 5th 2012, nineteen days before the film was released.  This promoted the film in a big way. The song was lodged in the minds of every person with a radio, constant radio play and mTV coverage.

The song went to number one at the UK's iTunes online store less than ten hours after it was released. The single sold 84,000 copies in the UK during its first two days of release.

MERCHANDISE

To appeal to women, Skyfall developed a range of nail polish themed around Bond. Working with the brand OPI, this is another example of synergy.
